Future Events:

Title: We, at the School of Medicine of the University of Athens, are currently committed to organise an  International Workshop. It will be the first of its type. The tentative title is:

Modern Asclepieions: Health <-> Culture

Aims: "Modern Asclepieions" are parks where Health and Culture are promoted in parallel and in harmony. They are modeled after the ancient Asclepieions. Please read the document The New Asclepieions for more information on the concepts, the ideas and the proposed pilot applications.

The international Workshop, the first of its type, has the ambition to initiate the dialogue among scholars of various disciplines concerning a new approach of citizen empowerment with respect to services of Health and Culture that are indispensable to him/her for improving the quality of life. New technologies and new findings in R&D can facilitate this endeavor. On the other hand the Modern Asclepieions can be the test bed for new directions in social life and social responsibility among ourselves, our children, our ancestors, our fellow citizens and finally all humans.

Date: The event is planned for the second half of May or September  2002.

Venue: The venue of the event will be Athens and Epidauros. The 1st Session (1st day) and the 3rd Session (3rd day) will take place in Athens. The second day of the event will take place to Epidauros. The programme will include a guided tour to the Ancient Asclepieion Site and the Museum and the presentations of the 2nd Session.

Number of Participants: The number of participants is expected to be no more than 50.

Language: The official language will be English. The Proceedings of the event will be published.
